Plumbing explained the way a schematic would
Penguin Plumbing & Drain covers hydro jetting, toilets and disposals, water softeners, main water lines, and backflow testing across San Antonio. We show you the system, name the cause, then price the fix.

The small fix gets offered first
Plumbing gets sold badly. A humming disposal becomes a new unit, a running toilet becomes a replacement, a clogged line becomes a repipe quote. Most of the time the smaller repair is the correct one, and the customer never hears about it.
We'd rather explain the system, show you where the failure sits in it, and lay out the cheap fix and the durable fix side by side. Sometimes those are the same thing. When they aren't, you should be the one choosing — not finding out afterward that a cheaper option existed.
How we workWhat you can expect
- A flat price quoted before anything is taken apart
- The cheaper repair named when it genuinely solves the problem
- Camera or pressure evidence shown, not just described
- Work outside our license named honestly, with a referral
What we work on
Drains, water quality, and supply lines — the systems that cause the most recurring trouble in San Antonio homes.
Hydro Jetting & Grease Line Cleaning
High-pressure water that scours the pipe wall clean instead of just punching a hole through the clog.

Running, rocking, weak-flushing, or leaking at the base — usually a cheap fix if you catch it early.

San Antonio water is genuinely hard. Here's what softening does, what it doesn't, and whether you need it.

Six things worth calling about
Every one of these is cheaper to deal with early. None of them improves on its own.
What customers say
“Jetted the kitchen line and showed me on camera why cabling kept failing. Explained it without making me feel stupid.”
“Told me my disposal just needed the reset pressed. Charged me the trip fee and left. That's why I called them back for the softener.”
“Backflow test came back failed, they rebuilt the assembly and re-tested the same visit. Paperwork was filed without me chasing it.”

Where we work
We're on Bandera Rd on the northwest side and work across San Antonio and the communities around it, generally inside about 25 miles. That takes in the Deco District, Woodlawn Lake, Leon Valley, Balcones Heights, Alamo Heights, Helotes, and out toward Converse and Universal City.
If you're on the edge of that radius, call before booking and we'll tell you plainly whether we can cover you.
Call (726) 265-2980Frequently asked questions
Do you charge for a service call?
Most diagnostic visits carry a trip or diagnostic charge, and we tell you the amount when you book rather than at the end. Quotes that come from a walkthrough rather than diagnostics — a softener install, for example — are usually free to look at.
Will you tell me if the cheap fix is enough?
That's most of what we do. A cabling is cheaper than jetting, a flapper is cheaper than a toilet, a jam clear is cheaper than a disposal. We'll recommend the smaller job when it genuinely solves the problem and explain plainly when it won't.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, Penguin Plumbing & Drain is licensed and insured to perform plumbing work in the State of Texas. For backflow assembly testing specifically, that work requires a separate tester certification — ask us to confirm current certification when you book that service.
How hard is San Antonio water, really?
Hard enough that scale on fixtures and shortened water heater life are normal complaints here rather than unusual ones. Whether that's worth treating depends on which symptoms actually bother you, which is why our softener page starts by asking what problem you're trying to solve.
What areas do you cover?
We're on Bandera Rd on the northwest side and serve San Antonio and surrounding communities, generally within about 25 miles. Call and ask if you're near the edge of that — you'll get a straight answer before you book.
Do you work on commercial properties?
Yes, particularly grease line jetting and backflow testing, which are common commercial needs. Mention the property type when you call so we schedule the right equipment and time.
Describe the symptom. We'll tell you what it points to.
Call and explain what the house is doing. You'll get an honest read on urgency and what it takes to confirm the cause.
